A. All our tents rainflys have a polyurethane (PU) protective coating to the hydrostatic value of 3000MM. All rainfly seams* are fully factory taped and heat sealed to ensure fabric joints are not exposed to rain water under fitting conditions. It is worth noting, like all tent fabrics, the level of waterproofing will deteriote with use; exposure to UV light for long periods, packing your tent too tightly creasing the fabric, storing damp or wet can impair or diminish the protective qualities. We would recommend acquiring a specialist seam sealant applicator in the event your taped seams weaken with use especially if exposed to unfitting conditions. These factors may likely be the cause of fabric leakage.
IMPORTANT: Condensation is often confused for leaking fabrics. Ventilation is key, as you want to remove the moist air before it condenses. Leaving as many doors and vents open as possible will minimise the condensation build up, which in turn will reduce the chances of water droplets from forming on the inside of the tents fabrics and dripping into the tent.
*stitched seams that can not be factory sealed due to the heated thermobonded applicator (will cause the following materials to melt) are: zippers, zipper teeth and velcro. Specialist Seam Sealant applicators are available and can be easily applied to these stitched areas if required. Unless a sealant is applied to these areas, it is not unusual for exposed areas to become saturated in periods of rainfall which may drip with water. Please contact us for further advice, alternatively there are excellent specialist seam sealant products/applicators available on the market, we would recommend this one which is suitable for polyurethane coated fabrics.
